How it works

  1. Choose a photo or take one. Your browser shrinks it before anything is sent, so the full-size original never leaves your device.
  2. The photo goes to the same Gemini model the app uses, which names the plant, scores its health and lists what it can see going wrong.
  3. You get a score out of 100, a verdict, up to three likely conditions with the first thing to try, and a link to our guide for that problem when we have one.

For a better answer

  • Get close to the damage: one leaf with the spots or the yellowing filling the frame beats the whole plant from across the room.
  • Daylight, no flash. Flash washes out the colour changes that tell one problem from another.
  • If the soil or the pot is part of the story (soggy, crusted, roots at the surface), include it. The app lets you add a second photo, which is the biggest single improvement.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Two health checks a day per person, with no account. The app gives you more, and turns the answer into a treatment plan, watering changes and a reminder to check again.

What happens to my photo?

It is sent for the check and dropped. We do not store it, and the version that leaves your browser is a reduced copy with no location data in it.

How accurate is it?

Good on a clear close-up of the damage, less good on a distant shot of a whole bed. Every condition comes with a confidence figure; below about 70 percent, treat it as a lead rather than a fact, and read the guide it links to.

Can it tell me what the plant is?

It tries, and names the plant when it can. If the name is all you want, the free identifier is built for that and is better at it.
